Partners of 5D Initiative
The 5D Initiative has already specified the fundamentals of a future 5D industry solution. Currently 5D Initiative group is working on detailing these requirements. While expecting to start the collaboration with partners early in 2010, the 5D Initiative group has already started a preliminary dialogue with selected software companies, that are open to develop and deliver new 5Di compliant solutions for the construction industry.
The 5D Initiative group is cooperating with the following partners:
Associations, Societies
ENCORD (www.encord.org )
The European Network of Construction Companies for Research and Development (ENCORD) is a network of active members from the construction industry, represented by decision-makers and executives working on research, development and innovation (R,D&I) and providing service to experts and the operational sides within the member companies. ENCORD has 19 members with head offices in 9 European countries and operations worldwide. All members are major European contractors and/or suppliers of construction material and are strongly devoted to R,D&I for increased competitiveness and growth.
Software Companies
Autodesk
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an intelligent model–based process that provides insight for creating and managing building and infrastructure projects faster, more economically, and with less environmental impact. Autodesk BIM solutions for the building lifecycle, from design to construction and operations & maintenance, are based on intelligent models created with Autodesk Revit software, including solutions for architecture, structural engineering, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering. Autodesk BIM solutions for the infrastructure lifecycle are based on intelligent models created with AutoCAD Civil 3D software for civil engineering design and AutoCAD Map 3D software for infrastructure planning. Helping to expand the benefits of BIM is a powerful set of complementary solutions, including Autodesk Navisworks and Autodesk 3ds Max Design to visualize and simulate projects virtually, and AutoCAD software for documentation and professional drafting. Autodesk Vault Collaboration AEC helps project teams manage and track digital models; secure, organize, and access project documentation; and facilitate team collaboration.
Bentley
Bentley is the global leader dedicated to providing architects, engineers, constructors, and owner-operators with comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure. Founded in 1984, Bentley has nearly 3,000 colleagues in more than 45 countries, $500 million in annual revenues, and, since 1999, has invested more than $1 billion in research, development, and acquisitions.
CCT
Based in Beirut, Lebanon near some of the top universities in Lebanon & the Middle East CCT has grown to host more than 50 top software architects, developers & support staff.
CCT has delivered solutions to its customers in the construction field as well as related industries, having successfully deployed solutions in projects & countries all over the Middle East, Africa, the Caspian region and Australia.
CCT solutions are based on best practices in management of construction projects. These solutions highly automate many project management functions such as project scoping, contract administration, document control, planning & scheduling, budgeting & cost control, resources management, material management, quality control, testing and handover, etc. . These solutions are well integrated, have built-in interfaces to several commonly used CAD and planning software as well as support to relevant international data standards. Major work has been done from our side on ISO 15962 which is supported by Fiatech.
CCT has several mobile based solutions for data collection in the field including man-hours, documents and material tracking, logistics, progress monitoring, and testing data.
CCT has partnered with several universities and R&D communities in the USA and Europe, such as CIFE (Center for Integrated Facility Engineering) at Stanford University.
RIB
With over 15,000 customers, the RIB Group is one of the leading providers of technical ERP software solutions for the construction industry.
Founded in 1961 and headquartered in Stuttgart, RIB has become a market leader in Germany. The world’s largest construction companies, the public sector, architectural offices and engineering companies as well as key accounts in the process industries all around the globe use RIB’s software systems to optimise their engineering and construction processes.
RIB has its own sales and service offices in EMEA, North America and APAC.
Tekla Corporation
With its software, Tekla Corporation drives the evolution of digital information models and provides thus more and more competitive advantage to the construction and infrastructure industries. Tekla has customers in nearly 100 countries, offices in 15 countries, and a worldwide partner network. The company was established in 1966.
With an ambition to multiply its customers' potential to think and achieve big, Tekla provides an accurate, detailed, and data-rich 3D BIM (Building Information Modeling) software environment that can be shared by contractors, structural engineers, steel detailers and fabricators, as well as concrete detailers and manufacturers. The highly detailed as-built structural models created, combined and distributed with Tekla BIM software enable the highest level of constructability and production control. Centralizing building information into the model allows for more collaborative and integrated project management and delivery. This translates into increased productivity and elimination of waste, thus making construction and buildings more sustainable. More information at www.tekla.com and www.teklastructures.com
